I too feel that I want to break away from the 9-5. It’s in my bones, but I haven’t quite yet figured out how to make that a reality that works for me. I’m definitely moving in the right direction though. To hear that you’re taking that step, not sure how it’ll all work out but having the courage to try, is really exciting to hear. Interested to read about the journey along the way. Thanks for this and keep sharing!

Thank you so much for this, I really feel you on that “in my bones” part. It’s such a powerful knowing, even if the ‘how’ isn’t fully clear yet. I’m so glad to hear you’re moving in the right direction, step by step. That’s exactly where I’ve been too uncertain, but choosing to trust the pull. I’ll definitely keep sharing the journey, and I’d love to hear about yours as it unfolds too. We’re in this together! 💛

Totally with you on this!

I walked away from two 6 figure jobs the past 4 years. First time I went into all the big questions you mention (what’s the point of all this?). Lost my desire to climb the corporate ladder and quit.

More recently I went back, worked under a toxic boss and decided my mental health supersedes corporate politics. Now I’m further convinced there has to be a better way.

Not all jobs suck…but the US corporate culture isn’t kind or rewarding.

Wishing you all the best on working towards your freedom!!

Wow, thank you for sharing this, what a powerful journey. Walking away twice from six-figure roles takes so much clarity and courage. I really resonate with what you said about mental health outweighing corporate politics, it’s something so many of us are waking up to. You’re right, not all jobs are bad, but there’s definitely something broken in the way corporate culture often devalues human wellbeing. Wishing you continued strength and clarity as you carve out a path that honors you. Grateful we’re connected on this road to freedom!

This piece really resonated with me, thank you. I have now broken away from the 9-5 to put creativity (writing) at the centre of my life and it was in all honesty a terrifying step but one which felt necessary. Our western society seems to focus on wealth and possessions as a means to happiness when it’s totally the wrong avenue to pursue for any kind of joyful life. Thanks again for writing this piece. Thank you so much for this, Delphine. I really admire your courage to centre creativity and make that leap, it is terrifying, but also deeply necessary when something within us won’t let us ignore the call anymore. I completely agree about our culture’s obsession with wealth and possessions, it’s such a hollow promise compared to the joy of living in alignment with what lights us up. Wishing you so much clarity and inspiration on your writing path. So glad we’re connected here!

I feel you EL. I did it. I escaped from my cushy glam life and all the mess that came with it to rustic heaven in Mexico. Granted, the mess came with me but I'm slowly cleaning it up. Looking forward to reading about your journey... I purged my story on to the page as well:

Wow, I felt every word of this, thank you for sharing it. “The mess came with me but I'm slowly cleaning it up”... that line hit deep. Isn’t that the truth of it? We can change the scenery, but the real work follows us and that’s where the real freedom begins. I’m so inspired by your move to rustic heaven in Mexico and can’t wait to read your story. So grateful we’re on this journey alongside each other.
